The stage between Bulltofta recreation area and Malmö is full of experiences and contrasts. The walk through Sweden's third largest city, which offers beautiful cemeteries, urban pulse, unique buildings and lots of lovely stops in the form of shopping, food and culture.
The entire stage runs on level terrain with firm ground and works with a pram. The stage begins in the Bulltofta recreation area, which consists of alternating nature with forest, water, meadows and hills. Here there are both barbecue areas and a cafe.
When the Skåneleden enters the central parts of Malmö, you pass the Östra Kyrkorgården and St. Pauli Södra and Mellersta cemeteries. Is this the only hiking trail in the world where you walk through three cemeteries?
Östra kyrkgården is Malmö's largest cemetery and Sweden's third largest, there are Catholic and Orthodox cemeteries and in direct connection there is a Muslim and Jewish burial ground.
The walk continues to St. Pauli church and past the beautiful avenue on Kungsgatan, which was laid out as a boulevard in the late 1800s in connection with the addition of the new Rörsjöstaden district. Enjoy the beautiful turn-of-the-century houses on one of the many park benches or have a coffee in one of the cafes in the area.
Walk on to Gustav Adolfs torg or "Gustav" as it is often called and enjoy the noise, shops and restaurants of the city. The fountains and the globe were designed by the artist Sivert Lindblom, his sculptures were put in place when the square was remodeled in 1997.
Stortorget, which was built in 1547, offers a long history, from the beginning the square functioned as a market square where traders and citizens traded grain and animals that were to be shipped further south. In connection with the construction of the square, Malmö town hall was also moved to its eastern side and was during that time the largest in the Nordic region.
At Malmö central station, there are both buses and trains that can take you further. There are also restaurants, cafes, a toilet and a grocery store here.
Along the entire stage, there is proximity to public transport if you want to hop on and off along the stage.
