In the small village of Arkelstorp you will find cozy houses, a grocery store and bus stop. The hike passes through hilly and alternating open farmland and woodland. 

The area contains several culturally and historically interesting environments that reflect the development from a farming village, to an industrial and station community and to today's leisure area. Among other things, black diabase has been mined in the area since the 19th century, from the quarries the stone was then transported by rail to Åhus. Tar from Ranvik and wood from Skvalparviken were also transported by sea to the station. 

In north-eastern Scania, nature is still untouched and the closest we get to wilderness in Scania. The elongated lake Immeln with its bays and over 200 islands offers nature experiences beyond the ordinary. Lake Immeln lies on the border between the municipalities of Kristianstad, Osby and Östra Göinge. Around the lake you will find deep forests and rocky shores. It is noticeable that this is an old stone village with several old quarries to visit or through a hike along the challenging Stenrundan.
