Hike through the tranquil wilderness of Skåne and enjoy enchanted forests with moss-covered grounds, mixed woodland, wet marshes, and grazed forests.

In the Snapphane district lies Kullaskogen, comprising the three nature reserves of Grävlingsbackarna, Sporrakulla, and Dalshult. The terrain here is gently rolling and partly steep and rocky. Grazing combined with timber production has led to the forest becoming much sparser than it once was. Pine and hardwood have replaced spruce as the area has been heavily affected by pine bark beetles and storms.

The only remaining cottage is Rodatorpet, located north of the Grävlingsbackarna reserve. The Solddatorpet from 1818 is typical for the era and sits by Lake Farlången. Adjacent to it is the architect-designed shelter Frame, inspired by the old soldier's cottage.

Of the four farms, only Sporrakulla remains. The other three farms, Dalshult, Broddakulla, and Trollakulla, are now in ruins.

Breanäs nature reserve is often referred to as the southernmost wilderness of Sweden, offering several local hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels.

The barren land in the area has long been inhabited by farmers, as evidenced by several ruins and stone walls. Tar production was an important industry in the area for much of the 20th century; if you're observant, you can find ditches where pine stumps were burned to make tar.

About Difficulty Grading

The grading is tailored for Swedish lowland trails that adhere to the quality criteria established by the national framework for hiking trails.

Even and firm ground: The terrain is generally flat. The hike requires no need to use your hands for support. No obstacles. Bridges are always present when crossing waterways.

Uneven and/or soft ground: Some changes in elevation. Certain sections may require hand support to maintain balance. There may be obstacles such as low stiles and short stairs. Minor obstacles like stones and roots. Boardwalks are present.

Loose or slippery ground combined with steep sections: Technical parts require hand support. There may be obstacles such as high stiles and longer stairs. Frequent sections with stones and/or roots. Boardwalks with deeper surrounding water.

Note: One or more of these features may be present along the trail section.
