Here you stroll past beach dunes and a coast which invites you to take a dip, through enchanted pine forest in Friseboda recreation area and fishing villages dating back to the Stone Age.

Friseboda nature reserve and recreational area offers long stretches of beaches and pine forests. During the summer, swimming is the obvious activity, but you will also find a horse trail and an accessible viewing platform.

The pine forest has not always existed in the area. During the Middle Ages, the need for wood and arable land was great and the oak-clad coast was gradually opened up. On the open areas, the wind could pick up the sand and sand drift became a major problem for the farmers in the area. With that, large areas of pine were planted during the early 19th century, which has led to the pine forests we have today along the coast.

The coastal stretch between Åhus and Kivik is called Ålakusten. Eel fishing has been an important source of income. Fishing has given the coast its special character with eel huts and drying racks for the eel bucks. Archaeological finds show that people have been fishing in the area since the Stone Age.

From Nyehusen, the trail finds its way up Linderödsåsen towards Maglehem.

Along the stage, it is possible to spend the night in a windbreak at the Friseboda campsite.

About Difficulty Grading

The grading is tailored for Swedish lowland trails that adhere to the quality criteria established by the national framework for hiking trails.

Even and firm ground: The terrain is generally flat. The hike requires no need to use your hands for support. No obstacles. Bridges are always present when crossing waterways.

Uneven and/or soft ground: Some changes in elevation. Certain sections may require hand support to maintain balance. There may be obstacles such as low stiles and short stairs. Minor obstacles like stones and roots. Boardwalks are present.

Loose or slippery ground combined with steep sections: Technical parts require hand support. There may be obstacles such as high stiles and longer stairs. Frequent sections with stones and/or roots. Boardwalks with deeper surrounding water.

Note: One or more of these features may be present along the trail section.

Really nice scenery, really worth it for that! That said, the path’s signaling near nyehusen was very difficult to follow (I hiked north to south). I’m unsure why that was, considering Skaneleden tends to have really good path markings, especially on newer sections.
