On this stage, you’ll hike between Sweden’s southernmost point, Smygehuk, and central Trelleborg. Along the way, you’ll pass picturesque fishing villages, cultural monuments, and blooming nature reserves, all while following the coastline through diverse landscapes.
You’ve now reached Smygehuk – Sweden’s southernmost point!
This spot attracts thousands each year who come to experience the very southern tip of Sweden, enjoy the proximity to the sea, the harbor, Köpmansmagasinet, and the Smygehuk lighthouse.
After passing the lighthouse, turn north and follow Tånevägen, which leads you to the village of Västra Torp. The oxel tree-lined road offers stunning views of farmland and the sea. Here, you’ll also find the ancient burial sites Erkes dös, and Stora and Lilla Kungsdösen.
Once in Västra Torp, the trail heads south towards leafy residential areas and coastal meadows, eventually taking you to Gislöv's harbor, Trelleborg’s largest marina. Here you’ll find a coastal fishing museum with historic photos and fishing tools, as well as a pier with vintage boats and a café.
Continue along the coast to reach Dalköpinge Meadows Nature Reserve, a grazed wetland area. In the old riverbed, a biodiverse marshland has formed, blending marine and wetland plants. The area is home to various bird species, including the Northern Lapwing, Common Snipe, and Redshank.
After Dalköpinge Meadows, you’ll pass Dalabadet, a recreation area and swimming spot, then reach the Dalköpinge River, a winding stream known for its sea trout population. In the evening, you may also spot bats here, as nine of Sweden’s 19 species inhabit southern Dalköpinge River.
The final stretch along the coast takes you through trails and roads by the Eastern Shore, with its charming houses and elongated plots typical of the area.
At Trelleborg Central Station, you’ll find connections by bus, train, and ferry, along with a wide range of restaurants, cafés, and hotels.
